Community social work has a positive impact on the empowerment of rural communities by contributing to the development of people's capacities to make decisions, manage resources and solve problems. Empowerment is a complex process that involves the development of autonomy, capacity for action and taking control over one's own life. For this article, a scientific review was conducted based on a search for reliable information on the topic, starting with a comprehensive and critical reading. This review has been systematized, in order to include the essence of the information from the authors consulted through books, websites, and articles from indexed journals. This review allows us to infer that community social work promotes participation and cooperation, thus building networks of support and trust that are essential for empowerment. It also provides learning and training opportunities that help develop the skills and knowledge needed to make decisions and solve problems, as well as to understand rights and opportunities, leading to a greater sense of agency and empowerment.
