Abstract

Two years ago education has changed abruptly, we are in a transition towards virtual reality, although not completely, but yes, digital is here to stay. In this regard, there are various postulates that explain it, however, from the sociological perspective, the most significant contribution and with proven validity today, is that of Bourdieu (1998) with the concept of cultural capital. Likewise, in the current context of an increasingly virtual network society, the theoretical contributions of Castells (2000) and Moraes (2014) are essential to understand the new socio-educational scenario. In this sense, in this work cultural capital is explained and theorized, and with this foundation, a sociological understanding of the constitution of digital cultural capital in contemporary education is proposed, specifically, in young people, who are the main protagonists of the social reproduction of the digital.
