Sustainable development and higher education. Actions by university faculty

Abstract

The book Sustainable Development and Higher Education: Actions by University Faculty, coordinated by researchers from the Autonomous University of Baja California, brings together fourteen chapters examining the strategic role of higher education in advancing the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The publication addresses experiences and research related to academic productivity, educational quality, equity, university social responsibility, research, institutional management, and pedagogical innovation. It also presents different strategies for integrating sustainability into curricula and teaching practices, including service-learning, problem- and project-based learning, participatory methodologies, and transdisciplinary projects. Overall, the book demonstrates how the principles of the 2030 Agenda can be translated into institutional practice through actions aimed at educational, social, and environmental transformation, while promoting critical thinking, ethical judgment, social responsibility, and the development of sustainable communities.
