Guidelines for authors

All submissions will be evaluated by an editor to determine if they meet the objectives and scope of this journal. Those deemed suitable will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected. Book reviews do not undergo this review.

Before submitting a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any included material, such as photos, documents, or data sets. All authors identified in the submission must give their consent to be identified as authors. When applicable, the research must be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the country of the study.

An editor may reject a submission if it does not meet minimum quality standards. Before making a submission, make sure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated correctly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood that reviewers will agree to evaluate the manuscript. When you are confident that your submission meets these requirements, proceed to the next section to prepare your submission correctly.

Formal rules for manuscripts

Authors should use the LAJHED template as a basis for the creation of manuscripts submitted to the journal. Emphasis is placed on the importance of not making adjustments to the formal aspects of the template, reserving any modifications exclusively for the content of the submission. In addition, the manuscript should not indicate information from which the author can be identified.

To ensure anonymity during peer review, the information that identifies the author should be entered in the Word Personal data. At the time of uploading the file to OJS, the Word Personal Data should be titled with the author's full name following the format Surname, First Name. If there is more than one author, one Word should be sent for each author.

All manuscripts must follow APA 7 guidelines. A practical summary of the guidelines is shown in this file: APA 7th edition citation guide.

Also, the structure of the manuscripts should be as follows:

  1. Title (no more than 15 words)
  2. Abstract in the original language in which the article is submitted (between 150 and 250 words)
  3. Keywords (no more than 5)
  4. Abstract
  5. Keywords
  6. Introduction
  7. Body of the paper (the scheme Methods-Resulted-Discussion can be followed; although depending on the discipline, or if it is a conceptual reflection, subtitles can be added at the author's discretion).
  8. Conclusions
  9. References
  10. At the end of the article, the authorship contribution should be indicated in case there is more than one author, the source of financing and the disclaimer on potential conflicts of interest.

* The links to the sources indicated in the references must be cut, except in the case of links that use a DOI. This is done through the following website: https://n9.cl/es

* Book reviews do not need to comply with points b, c, d and e. However, the author must send through OJS a Word with the complete translation of the content of his/her manuscript. As with all other submissions, no information that could identify the author should be disclosed.

Article review process

The original manuscripts received by the journal are first reviewed by the editorial team (in coordination with the guest editors of specialized dossiers, as the case may be). If approved, they are submitted to a double-blind peer review process, i.e., neither the authors nor the reviewers know each other's identity. Regardless of the result, the authors receive the reviewers' opinions in writing for their consideration. In the event that the reviewers have contradictory opinions, a third reviewer whose identity is also concealed is used. In all cases, the final decision to accept the manuscript rests with the Editor-in-Chief of the journal. To guarantee independence and impartiality, reviewers are chosen on the basis of their experience, reputation, trajectory and expertise in the subject matter of the dossier, giving priority to those reviewers who are external to the journal's editorial team. The evaluation period generally lasts from two to six months.

After completing the peer review phase, the manuscript advances to the APA review. During this stage, our editorial team collaborates directly with the author to ensure that citations and references comply with APA 7 standards. Subsequently, the manuscript is evaluated with Turnitin anti-plagiarism software. If the manuscript complies, it goes to the layout stage before its final publication.
