This essay is a retrospective tribute to the thought of Bruno Latour, paying special attention to how his oeuvre was interpreted, criticized and defended by various authors. To establish the philosophical identity of Latour, there will be an exposition of his main ideas and their eventual developments. Special attention is dedicated to the "critique of criticism", which ends up being a turning point between the early and late stages of Latourian philosophy. Based on “antagonistic hybridization” or “proximal criticality”, it is possible to reread the French attempts to formulate a system capable of describing ontological differences in qualitative terms, opening new lines of research for the future.
