Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of immersive technologies, such as augmented reality and virtual reality, in educational settings. The purpose of this article is to assess their effectiveness, perceptions, and the challenges associated with these innovations. The methodology used is quantitative and applied. The sample consisted of university students and faculty, with a total of 68 participants. After analyzing the results, it was found that the use of augmented reality and virtual reality develops student motivation (evidenced in 82.3%) and enhances academic performance (evidenced in 67.4%). However, barriers arise, such as the lack of appropriate infrastructure (evidenced in 73.5%) and the lack of teacher training (evidenced in 65.2%). The processing of statistical data reveals positive relationships between the use of these tools and the strengthening of learning outcomes, especially in STEM disciplines. In conclusion, it should be noted that immersive technologies represent a valuable opportunity to modernize teaching methods; however, they require methodical implementation plans that respond to contextual factors and the specifics of the educational environment.
